Eric Swalwell investigated for alleged rape of Lonna Drewes, LA County Sheriff's Dept. says
- A new accuser of Rep. Eric Swalwell said she believed the California Democrat drugged her before choking and raping her in a West Hollywood hotel room in 2018.
- The woman, Lonna Drewes, spoke at a press conference in Los Angeles, where her attorney, Lisa Bloom, said she would file a police report detailing the accusations against Swalwell.
- The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said later that it had open an investigation of Drewes' claims.
- Swalwell on Monday said he was resigning his seat in Congress, a day after suspending his candidacy for California governor.
